5 Tips To Get Your Mojo Back #JanuaryFail #NewMonth #NewMe #NewYear

So it’s the last day of the first month of the new year and I’m calling January what is…… an “L”, a shit show, a complete fumble of the ball and any other negative/failed connotation. Well February is a new month and I’m ready to begin again.

I’m joking when I say new month new me because I have always believed in the quote,

"I hope you live a life you’re proud of. If you find that you’re not,
I hope you have the courage to start all over again."- F. Scott Fitzgerald

to me that means anytime you don’t like something have the courage to change it or shut up. Anytime I didn’t like something I would give myself a time frame to complain and change whatever it was that I was unhappy about, and if I haven’t changed it or figured out how to change it then I shut up because I must not have that much of a problem with it if I haven’t changed it. So with that said I want to get more productive with my goals I’ve set for myself and here are some ways I plan to get the ball rolling a bit faster.

Tips and tricks that I’m using to get my mojo back:

1.) Acknowledge the Baby Steps:

Giving yourself credit for the things you were able to accomplishment no matter how small gives you a push to continue, to keep going instead of just beating yourself up about things that you cannot change i.e., what you weren’t able to accomplish.

My baby steps- During the first month of 2017 I was able to get my emails under control, closed out some financial obligations, attended acting workshops, closed out some business obligations, cleaned out our wardrobes, began to invest more our businesses and set up a budget for future business needs.

2.) Clean/Get Organized:

Cleaning and organizing your living and working environment is helpful for so many reasons, being in a clean environment allows you to focus on what is most important (work, planning, spending quality time with those you care about, etc.), you can actually find and know where things are that may help you to further pursue your goals, and being in a clean organized environment gives you a positive outlook on yourself and environment. After watching the Minimalism documentary on Netflix I was even more inspired to continue purging our home of any unnecessary items.

How cleaning and organizing helped us- After deep cleaning our place, I was able to find and organize documents for our taxes and after cleaning our wardrobes we were able to donate and sale some clothes to make room for a few new items along with bringing down the clutter in our life.

3.) Cook:

Now I understand not everyone finds cooking enjoyable, but for me cooking has always been almost therapeutic for me. Anytime I feel overwhelmed and/or I just feel the need to get centered, I think of a dish that I have a taste for and I immediately get the ingredients needed to make the dish, get home turn on my Sade pandora station that plays a range of soulful artist from Sade, to Erykah Badu, Lenny Kravitz, Maroon 5, Brandy, Bill Withers and on and on; by the time I finish the dish with a few taste in between to make sure I’m seasoning things just right I have this undeniable feeling of accomplishment. This feeling now rolls over into every other aspect of my life, I now feel like I can take on any project. Then my husband eats and thoroughly enjoys the dish and I feel like I’m the most amazing wife and so on and so on; this amazing feeling of good food and love continues to spread throughout everything else going on in my life, as you can see I’m going on a tangent because I love the feeling cooking gives me LOL. But if you’re one of those people who feels like cooking is too complicated try a simple dish or a desert for the first time and throw on some music and try it out. (Let me know if this works for you, I’m almost certain you will have some positive reaction. If nothing else at least a satisfied full belly :-))

4.) Exercise/Meditate:

This tip/trick was probably already one of the main new years goals that you may be down on yourself about for not being consist with but hear me out. Don’t put too much pressure on yourself about losing weight or an exact exercise regimen to keep up, just do the most simple of things to get yourself moving; i.e., go for a 30min walk around your block every morning or evening, park further away from your work or home building so you have to walk further, take the stairs instead of the elevator, etc. Exercise is like meditation it gives you some productive alone time to just be without having unnecessary negative thoughts flowing through your brain, you’re so busy focused on whatever exercise your doing you can’t think negatively. And if you find you have a little extra time in the morning or ending your evening try to meditate it makes a huge difference when you want to decompress at the end of the day or prepare yourself for a new day.

How I exercise and meditate- I go for a mile walk 3 to 4 times a week around our neighborhood track and it helps me to clear my mind so I can be productive when working of new work projects. Also it keeps me in shape and since I hate exercise this is perfect for me because I’m able to stay lean without having to do much. I try to meditate every morning before getting out of bed and starting my day, this consist of me being still and quiet repeating positive affirmative quotes while listening to calming meditation music.

5.)Get Inspired!:

Go to a library check out an inspiring book whether it’s a self help book, or a biography of someone who you aspire to be like. Go to a museum, seeing art stimulates the mind to think outside of your normal thought process. Go outside and experience nature, no matter where you live whether you live in a city, suburbs, beach, or rural country you can find some form of nature that can inspire you. Walk or drive to your nearest park, beach, city mural, etc. and just stand or sit there and take it in; have a moment of silence to embrace it.

How I get inspired- I love the library and I love to read inspiring books such as biographies and self help books; these types of books help me to realize that anything is possible. I also love visiting museums, first because it is usually cheap (if not free sometimes) and seeing art that was at one point just a thought in someones brain and then they brought it to life is just amazing to me! I love visiting the beach which is 30mins away to clear my head, it is so relaxing.
